The Poetry of New Beginnings

Every new action is a new beginning, according to the german philosopher Hannah Arendt (The Human Condition, 1958), which devoted much of her work to the human capacity to start something new.

For Arendt, this quote describes how humans are able to survive substantial natural, social or personal catasthropes by maintaining hope and live on by creating new beginnings. By focusing on this way of looking at the world and human affairs, the project sheds light on a central human capacity in a time that poses several challenges to our fragile global ecological and societal systems.
